Choosing and changing your username
Usernames are 3–30 characters, unique across the platform, and changeable once every 30 days.

Your username is your address on GOLE Network. It appears in your profile link
(/u/yourname) and whenever someone mentions you in a post or comment.
The rules
- Between 3 and 30 characters.
- Unique — no two people can hold the same one.
- Some names are reserved (system words, route names, and terms that would impersonate the platform). If yours is rejected, this is usually why.
Changing it
Go to Settings → Profile. You can change your username once every 30 days. The cooldown exists because your username is how people find and cite you — if it changed freely, every link and mention pointing at you would rot.
Your display name is separate and has no cooldown. If you just want to be shown differently, change that instead.
Why is my username user_1a2b3c4d?
That is a placeholder assigned when a Google sign-up skipped the onboarding step. It is not a problem with your account. Go to Settings → Profile and claim a real one.
